Our
Church was established in 1953 as the Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene.
Since then we have evolved into a family oriented and community
focused Church. We are part of the
Maine District of Nazarene Churches and also the International Church of the
Nazarene with headquarters in Kansas City.
Our Mission is to "teach the word of God
and equip people to serve Jesus Christ." We
offer ministries for youth though seniors and focus in activities that
offer families the opportunity to know the love of Jesus Christ and to
serve Him faithfully in Christian works. This
includes, but is not limited to, Sunday worship service, Wednesday Prayer
Service, Sunday evening worship service, Sunday
school programs, women’s ministries,
bible studies for adults, music ministries. Through our brothers and
sisters in Christ around the other 49 Maine Nazarene Churches we offer many more
opportunities for learning about Jesus Christ in safe adult led environments and
activities. Millinocket Church of the Nazarene is led by the Board of Directors that oversee the ministries of the Church, are responsible for the spiritual health of the congregation, and for the financial viability of our Church. The Congregation elects a Pastor who is a called and ordained servant of the Word. The Pastor provides the leadership and administration for the Church; represents the Church to the community; and equips, provides direction and guidance to the whole Church and to individual members. Richard J. Waller is our Pastor and his family includes wife Kathryn, daughter Emily, and son Alex. Pastor Richard began his calling in January 2004 and is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. He is currently taking classes through Nazarene Theological Seminary in pursuit of a Masters in Divinity Degree. We are a Holiness Church, believe in the Bible as the inspired Word of God, and accept that only through belief in Jesus Christ as our Risen Savior can we be saved from sin that is in each of us. We also believe in the commitment of each person to grow their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to grow in their faith in works. We are called to make disciples among the nations. Church leadership for 2009-2010 includes Liz Burby, Susan Darnielle, Tom Herring, Sherry Kowalski, and Mark Sennett. Church Board Secretary is Elizabeth Burby and Cathy Sennett is our treasurer. The Church Board is responsible to lead our Church using our mission, vision and values as guidelines. They are also responsible to model being Christians, living holiness lives, and being missional people living their lives for God. |
